Resume optimizer: match the role, then confirm the facts
OnCue reads one PDF or DOCX resume and can tighten the wording for a target role and job description, including keywords the resume does not yet mention. It does not invent experience. Before export, you confirm employers, roles, skills, education, certifications, dates, and numbers.
From a resume file to an export
- Import one PDF or DOCX, up to 5 MB and 50,000 characters. A scan or image-only PDF may produce no text; paste the resume text instead.
- Enter a target role and, if you want, a company. Paste the job description to aim the draft at that role, or run a general cleanup without one.
- Read the suggestions and the revised draft. After you confirm the facts, export a single-column Word file (.docx). If the resume or job description changes after analysis, run it again before exporting.
The screenshot shows the resume workspace. Suggestions change with the resume, the job description, and the selected model.
What the suggestions will and will not change
Suggestions can normalize spacing and bullets, make first-person lines more direct, flag a dense sentence, and list job keywords missing from the resume. Add a keyword or a result only when your experience supports it. If the model changes a protected fact, such as a date, contact detail, URL, or number, that result is rejected.
Where the resume text goes
The resume and job description are sent to the AI provider you select so it can draft the revision. The workspace and the result stay on this device. With your own key, the app connects directly to that provider; hosted mode sends the request through the OnCue gateway. See how OnCue handles your data.
What to check before export
Compare both versions and confirm that every employer, role, skill, education item, certification, date, and metric is still true. Export stays locked until that review is confirmed. Lines that contain numbers, dates, or contact details need an extra look. The model does not verify those facts for you.
When the file cannot be read
Upload one resume at a time, and only PDF or DOCX. Empty files, files over 5 MB, and text over 50,000 characters are not optimized. For a scan or image-only PDF, paste the resume text.
